The introduction of Cynar into our bar has been a game changer. This earthy Italian bitter-sweet liquor mixes well in Negronis (Christina's favorite), and we've been testing out different ways to incorporate it into other drinks. We were first introduced to Cynar at one of our favorite Restaurants in New York, Lincoln Ristorante. They had a Negroni bar - what?! It was incredible. With tons of different options to choose from, we tasted Cynar and this artichoke derived liquor has changed our palates for good. Now for the Peach Black Tea Swizzler! A combination of brewed black tea (our first time using tea in a cocktail), honey, rum (a liquor we don't use very often, but so fun to mix with), lemon and Cynar. Topped with a grapefruit twist - this drink will have you swizzling. What does that mean, exactly? Mix it up and find out.
Brew your tea (we used two tea bags to make our tea extra potent), add a dash of honey while it's warm and let cool before mixing your cocktail.
In a mason jar over ice, pour in your tea, rum, Cynar, lemon juice. Use a cocktail spoon to stir.
Strain your drink into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with grapefruit peel twist (use a peeler, twist, gently wipe the rim of your class with the oils and place the peel on the surface of your drink). Time to swizzle!
