Ultimate freshness. Sweet grapefruit and bitter lemon combine with a touch of tequila and lemon vodka. This margarita is not for the faint at heart. Grapefruit and lemon make for a refreshing combination along with the icy cool nature of margaritas. A fun drink for dinner parties if you're serving Mexican food!
Juice your grapefruit and lemon (be sure to take out all seeds). You can do this with a juicer very easily, but if you don't have one you can also use your food processor and then strain out the juice. Heck, I was feeling lazy and just squeezed the juice out with my hands over a strainer so I was sure to catch the seeds. Whichever you choose- just try to get the most juice out as possible!
When they are mixed together, add the tequila right away and then add the sugar. Stir these all together and let sit for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. You'll know when its ready because the sugar will be dissolved completely into the drink
Use a potato peeler to make a few garnishes as seen in the photo above. If this seems excessive & more decorative than practical, you're right :) We do it cause it looks pretty but these drinks are so fresh that the garnish is mostly just for looks, so don't sweat it!
Strain the concoction one more time if you want to eliminate any pulp or seeds you might have missed, or just do what we do & pour them right over the ice.
